We are heading into a presidential election unlike any other: the compounding social, economic, and public health crises show no sign of abating. At the same time, misinformation, voter suppression, and escalating rhetoric have set the stage for what some observers have worry is an impending crisis of legitimacy. Organizers and activists at the forefront of struggles for social justice know there is a lot at stake in this election, but all recognize that social justice demands of the last months, from racial and housing justice to ending police terror, have had negligible impact on national platforms.

Join the Urban Democracy Lab (UDL) and Gallatin’s Alumni Working Group in Politics & Advocacy for a panel discussion with front-line organizers about the work they are doing, and how they are facing these issues. Moderated by Gallatin Professor and Director of UDL, Gianpaolo Baiocchi, the event features active community organizers from Caring Majority RisingVoices Of Community Activists & Leaders (VOCAL-NY), Organizing for The Frontline Campaign, and Right to the City Alliance. Together these organizers will be able to speak to some of the key, ongoing, grassroots efforts led by people of color, immigrants, and working people around the country in this moment.
