What does it take to reimagine justice, build community power and organize a better world?
This summer, the Urban Democracy Lab, in partnership with the Action Lab, welcomes student organizers to join us in a three day organizing retreat, holding space for grounding, reflecting and building the knowledge and attitudes needed to change the world.
This program will introduce up to 20 undergraduate and graduate students to organizing frameworks that align the conditions of our space and time to our practice. Attendees will participate in:
- Workshops facilitated by organizers, leaders and scholars
- Case study
- Site visits
- Direct action projects
- Coalition building
UDL’s organizing retreat will be held at TAL’s retreat center in Ossining, NY from Wednesday, June 21st through Friday, June 23rd. Meals and lodging will be provided; and shuttle service will be provided from Ossining station (Metro North line) to The Action Lab. Following the retreat UDL will facilitate ongoing relationship-building, learning, and collaborative opportunities for the cohort of participants through a series of meet-ups and events.
Applications are due by Wednesday, May 31st, 2023 11:59pm.
