The Urban Democracy Lab operates two fellowship programs and sponsors between 10 and 12 fellows at the B.A., M.A. and Ph.D levels each year.

Gallatin Global Fellowship in Urban Practice (GGFUP)

Two Semester Program

Managed by the Urban Democracy Lab, provides funding of up to $5,000 and support for 6-10 advanced undergraduate and Master’s students to pursue extended, community-engaged research projects in partnership with urban social justice organizations.

Doctoral Fellowship in Urban Practice (DFUP)

One Year Program

The Doctoral Fellowship in Urban Practice (DFUP) provides a generous stipend, coverage of maintenance of matriculation and related fees, and health insurance coverage for up to two NYU doctoral candidates per year to pursue extended, community-engaged research projects in partnership with urban social justice organizations in New York. Fellows will also have the opportunity to design and teach a course of their own at NYU Gallatin under the mentorship of a senior faculty member.
