From our friends at the Department of Media, Culture, and Communication at NYU Steinhardt:

This is an event in the memory of the late Sabeen Mahmud, the founder and director of Peace Niche in Pakistan, who was murdered in April 2015 for hosting a conversation on Pakistani military’s torture and forced disappearances of Baloch rebels.

The discussion will feature transnational activists, academics, artists, and art organizers based in South Asia and the U.S. who work towards creating spaces for cultural resistance and community despite threats of precarity, censorship and violent abuse.

Sabeen visited NYU in April 2014 to speak with students and faculty about her media activism in Pakistan.
