The Gallatin Global Fellowship in Urban Practice (GGFUP) provides funding of up to $5,000 and support for 6-10 advanced undergraduate and Master’s students to pursue extended, community-engaged research projects in partnership with urban social justice organizations in New York, Madrid, Chicago, Oakland, and Kolkata. The fellowship is open to all Gallatin students, M.A.-only students in Wagner and Latin American Studies, and undergraduate and M.A. students in Social and Cultural Analysis and Sociology. Please note that advanced language proficiency in Spanish is required for Madrid and desirable for Chicago, Oakland, and New York sites. Bengali and Hindi language skills are encouraged for Kolkata, though also are not required.
Applications should be submitted through this on-line form by November 3, 2016. Paper or e-mail copies will not be accepted. Applicants must provide the following:
- Completed application form, Personal Statement, and Research Statement
- Letter of recommendation from the applicant’s adviser
- Letter of recommendation from a faculty member who can speak to the applicant’s ability to conduct advanced, independent research
- Current resume
- Unofficial transcript
- Interview with the program director or administrator (at the discretion of the selection committee).
